Nature writing is prose or poetry about the natural environment. Nature writing starts with some nature journaling, but its purpose is different. Rather than just being a record of natural history observations, it strives to explore the interactions of humans and the natural world. Reflection, analysis, and philosophical interpretation are tools used by the nature writer. An introduction to nature writing will be given in a short classroom presentation, then we will spend some time outside for observations, and finally, find a quiet place to practice writing. Your instructor is an Interpretive Naturalist/Writer for Southern Nevada Conservancy, and has been a freelance writer for 27 years. Ages 18+. Limited space/registration necessary.
