Flower Friday

In fall, you can catch the outstanding yellow blooms of Mojave rabbitbrush (Ericameria paniculata) along the Scenic Drive. This large green shrub, about three to four feet tall, sprouts small flowers at the end of the stems and provide nectar in autumn for many flies, moths, butterflies, wasps, and more. You can find Mojave rabbitbrush around roads, within washes, and along rocky soils. Native Americans used this shrub to brew teas for colds and coughs and would munch on the roots as a chewing gum.
