Flower Friday

Paper flower (Psilostrophe cooperi) is a small shrub, growing about one to two feet tall, with white to gray-green stems & leaves. In mid-spring, the shrub blooms with many small yellow flowers that can cover the entire plant. The flower petals often stay on the plant throughout the summer and into fall, looking weathered and papery (hence the name). These sun-bleached petals often carry seeds in the wind. Look for paper flower around Calico Basin, the first few miles of the Scenic Drive, and near the end of the Scenic Drive.
