The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will be crack filling a 9-mile section of State Route 159 in both directions from Blue Diamond Road to the Red Rock National Conservation Area Visitor Center from February 27, 2020 through May 14, 2020. Work will take place from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. daily, Tuesdays through Thursdays.

A flagger and pilot car will safely escort motorists, cyclists and pedestrians through the 1-mile-long construction zones, resulting in travel delays. Trail head parking areas within work zones will be closed while flagging operations are active.

“Crack filling prevents further roadway deterioration for a smoother, safer driving experience,” said NDOT spokesman Tony Illia. “It’s a cost-effective maintenance solution that extends the roadway’s lifecycle.”

Motorists should use caution while travelling through the work zone, heed construction signage, and take alternate detour routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors.
