Event Details

Join Tom as we explore the majestic desert scenery right outside of the Scenic Drive. Learn interesting facts about the plants, animals, and geology of the Mojave Desert! The hike will be approximately 2.75 miles (4.43 km) long, and involves 400 feet (122 m) elevation change. The descent will have loose rocks and a few one foot step downs.

Make sure that you bring at least 1 liter of water per person for this hike. The hike is rated easy/moderate and is ~2.75 miles (4.43 km) long. The hike will start and end at the Cowboy Trail Rides Parking Lot.

Interpretive programs at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area are a free public service. Advance registration at https://redrockcanyonlvprograms.timetap.com/#/ is required to attend this program. If you plan to visit the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive or Visitor Center, please make a timed entry reservation at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

When visiting Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, it is important to dress accordingly for the weather. It is recommended to wear sunscreen, appropriate footwear, bring a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of water.
