Event Details

We often think of rocks as static pieces of the environment, but can you imagine an entire mountain range moving over 60 miles? Join the Bureau of Land Management in celebrating

World Geologist Day on a hike to see one of the most studied tectonic features in the world: the Keystone Thrust. This trail is considered moderate at around 3 miles (4.8 km) round-trip with 600 ft (180 m) of elevation gain located at the Lower White Rock Parking Lot within the Scenic Loop Drive.

Interpretive programs at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area are a free public service. Advance registration at redrockcanyonlvprograms.timetap.com is required to attend this program. Additionally, a Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive Timed Entry reservation (available at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777) is required.
