Second Sunday: Artists and Authors presents a very special event on March 11, 2018, from 11 AM until 3 PM

Land and Identity: Celebration of the Nuwuvi and Inter-Tribal Friends

Join featured artist Fawn Douglas and friends and experience the connections between land and identity through Native American song, dance, story, and art. Art will be on display from Fawn Douglas and other artists.

11 AM – Visitor Center – Craft projects for families. Craft art will include the woven stars (God’s Eyes) and color your own petroglyph.

12 PM  – Amphitheater – Introductions and stories of the Southern Paiute lands and why we protect them. The Southern Paiute Elders Group share Birdsongs and stories.

1 PM – Amphitheater – Introductions of the Pow Wow dancers and history of the dances. Inter-Tribal Pow Wow Performance. Local Native American dancers perform various dances.

Fawn Douglas is an artist, activist, and member of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe. She also has roots in the Moapa Paiute, Cheyenne, Pawnee, and Creek Nations. Fawn studied at the College of Southern Nevada and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas – where she graduated with a B.A. in Art, Painting and Drawing in 2015. As an artist, Fawn continues to pull her cultural heritage into her works, including mixed media, print, pastel, spray paint, acrylic, oil paint and ceramics, and has murals in various locations in the City of Las Vegas as well as the Paiute Indian Reservation.
