Event Details

Hike with Tom on a hike around Potato Knoll (also known as Wilson’s Pimple). It is a scenic hike with some hills to climb and washes to explore. Parts of the trail are sandy, and other parts are rocky. We will cross Pine Creek several times.

Make sure that you bring at least 1 liter of water per person for this hike. This hike is rated moderate-strenuous in difficulty, and will last about 4 hours. The hike will start and end at the trailhead at the Middle Oak Creek Parking Lot. Middle Oak Creek Parking Lot is off of State Route 159, not off of the Scenic Drive.

Interpretive programs at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area are a free public service. Advance registration at https://redrockcanyonlvprograms.timetap.com/#/ is required to attend this program. If you plan to visit the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive or Visitor Center, please make a timed entry reservation at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

When visiting Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, it is important to dress accordingly for the weather. It is recommended to wear sunscreen, appropriate footwear, bring a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of water.
