Winter Gathering: A Celebration of the Nuwuvi and Inter-Tribal Friends

Join local artist Fawn Douglas and experience the connection between land and identity through Native American song, dance, story, and art. All ages. No registration necessary.

11AM – 2PM Kids craft projects. Visitor Center

12PM – 12:15PM Stories of Southern Paiute Lands and why we protect them. Visitor Center Classroom

12:15PM Bird Singers and Dancers performance. Visitor Center Amphitheater

1PM – 1:15PM Introduction to Pow Wow Dancers and history of the dances. Visitor Center Amphitheater

1:15PM – 2PM Inter-Tribal Pow Wow performance. Visitor Center Amphitheater

 

Fawn Douglas is an artist, activist, and member of the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe. She also has roots in the Moapa Paiute, Cheyenne, Pawnee, and Creek Nations. As an artist, Fawn continues to pull her cultural heritage into her works, including mixed media, print, pastel, spray paint, acrylic, oil paint and ceramics, and has murals in various locations in the City of Las Vegas as well as the Paiute Indian Reservation. Stop by the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center anytime from 11AM to 2PM to meet Fawn and watch her paint! In addition, we will have Indian fry bread demonstration, Bird Song Dancers, Pow Wow Dancers and elders with story-telling. No registration necessary. All ages.
