What’s the difference between cryptobiotic soil crust and desert pavement? Soil conservation may not be your first though when you link of life in the desert, but you can stop by the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center to celebrate World Soil Day and learn just how important these unique soil types are to the Mojave Desert.

Registration is not required, all are welcome. This event will be inside, but when visiting Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, it is important to dress accordingly for the weather. It is recommended to wear sunscreen, bring a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of water.
