September 1, 2016 marks the second year of Every Kid in a Park program! The program provides fourth graders and their family access to federally managed lands and waters with a free pass. This includes national parks, forests, wildlife refuges and marine sanctuaries. To celebrate the second launch of this outdoor stewards initiative, Elements gift shop (located inside Red Rock Canyon’s visitor center) stocked their shelves with the new children’s book, “Our Great Big Backyard” written by Mrs. Laura Bush, and her daughter, Jenna Bush Hager. The book takes you on a journey through the eyes of a child as her and her family experience their public lands on a summer road trip! You can pick up your copy today at the gift shop for $18.99.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell said that as children experience their public lands, they start to unlock natural curiosity. Fourth grade students will learn how to preserve their nation’s treasured lands for their generation and the next generation. Fourth graders can obtain their pass, which is valid September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017, by visiting www.everykidinapark.gov. Start exploring today!
