Western redbud (Cercis orbiculata) provides a stunning springtime display of pink & purple flowers. This large shrub, growing up to 20 feet tall, grows hundreds of pea shaped flowers from late March into early May. The leaves will grow in a circular heart shape after the flower bloom. By summer, you’ll see brown to red seed pods hanging from the shrub. Look for western redbud growing along washes in Red Rock Canyon, in particular around Willow Springs and Lost Creek.
