The 13-mile Scenic Drive will be open 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting November 1. This change happens yearly and is necessary as days become shorter and the sunset is earlier after the end of Daylight Saving Time. The Visitors’ Center will continue to be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Additionally, the Bureau of Land Management asks motorists to be careful of wild horses and burros along our roadways, as the end of Daylight Saving Time brings earlier darkness and lower visibility to Southern Nevada.

In the past, several wild horses and burros have been hit and killed, or sustained injuries leading to euthanization. The animals can wander onto the road creating a safety hazard to themselves and for motorists. These areas include State Route 159 and State Route 160 within Red Rock Canyon.
