Event Details

It’s tarantula mating season and that means it’s the perfect time to hit the trail with a Bureau of Land Management park ranger for a one-of-a-kind tarantula trek through the stunning landscapes of Red Rock Canyon! As we explore a scenic 1.5-mile (2.4 km) trail with 200-foot (60 m) elevation gain, you’ll discover the secrets of these mysterious eight-legged desert dwellers. We will learn about their importance in an ecosystem, uncover their fascinating behaviors, and maybe even spot one on the move! Please note there are sections with uneven terrain and loose gravel. Additionally, part of this hike will be after sunset so bring a flashlight!

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just curious about the wild world of arachnids, this is your chance to experience Red Rock Canyon like never before, up close and crawling with wonder.
